Verifiable computation
A technique that lets one party perform a calculation and produce a cryptographic proof that it was done correctly, so others can trust the result without redoing the work themselves. It is what allows a blockchain to accept the output of heavy computation done off-chain, underpinning zero-knowledge rollups (see Zero-knowledge proof, Rollup).
